Bodytalk – the oldest queer heart of Utrecht - Oudegracht 64

Pink baroque on the walls, rainbow umbrellas on the ceiling, and since 1987 the same door on the Oudegracht. Some of our regulars started coming when that still took courage. Others have never known anything else. Both belong here.

Café Kalff – go where you're celebrated - Oudegracht 47

Named after founder Robbert Kalff, the man behind the Utrecht Canal Pride. Handed over to a new owner from the community in early 2026, but the name, the vibe, the staff who truly celebrate you, and the great cocktails remain.

Teatro – surprise, surprise - Gietijzerstraat 3

A queer-friendly theater café where you never know what the night will bring, and that’s exactly the point. Home to the monthly drag show Cherries, which has since moved to Kabul à Gogo, where they have even more room to let loose.

Utrecht Queer Culture Festival – 10 days of queer - every year in October

Ten days of queer art, culture, theater, workshops, dance parties, and more. All by and for the Utrecht queer community. A celebration of the beauty of diversity in sexuality, gender, identity, and relationship forms. Throughout the city, every October. From the Walk of Love to the Annie Brouwer-Korf Award: this is one of the biggest queer moments of the year in Utrecht.

Savannah Bay – 50 years of stories - Telingstraat 9

What started in 1975 as the first women's bookstore in the Netherlands has grown into Utrecht's premier queer meeting place. Featuring books on gender, queer life, and feminism, plus Pink Point, the city's LGBTQIA+ information hub. It’s the kind of place where you might just witness a coming-out at the counter.

ACU – raw, real, and queer - Voorstraat 71

Squatted in 1976 and never given back. A bar, concert venue, vegan restaurant, and home base for queer activism, run entirely by volunteers. Here, you don't have to explain yourself to anyone.

De Nijverheid – creative sanctuary in the Werkspoorkwartier‍ - Tractieweg 41

A raw cultural space that regularly hosts queer events, such as the Trans & Queer Pub Night and Drag & Draw, where you can sketch drag queens while enjoying a drink. A place for art, music, and connection for those who feel at home off the beaten path.

Ekko – glitter on the dance floor - Bemuurde Weerd WZ 3

For over 35 years, this intimate music venue by the canal has been the permanent home of Queer in Wonderland, the queer transfeminist collective that fills the dance floor with house, techno, and plenty of glitter. Color is mandatory, rules are not.

Kargadoor – no subsidies, just soul - Oudegracht 36‍

Independent for over 65 years, operating without subsidies and run entirely by volunteers. Comedy, theater, debate, and music for anyone who wants to listen, laugh, or think. Simply for everyone.
